How to Create a Product or Service

This article explains how to create an individual product or service in Juvonno for invoicing and scheduling purposes.

 

When to Use This

Use this process when:

  • Adding a new service offered by your clinic
  • Creating products for retail 
  • Setting up services for online booking or eClaims submission

 

Permissions 

  • You need to have access to Settings and the ability to create or edit Products & Services.

 

Adding Products & Services 

  1. Go to Settings 
  2. Under Products & Services, select Products & Services
  3. Click + New Item

  1. Select a Department 
  2. Select a Category

  1. Enter the following: 
    • Name: Enter a clear, descriptive label  
    • Item #: Enter a code using letters and numbers. Do not use any spaces or special characters (e.g., &, ", long dashes)

Pricing

  1. Enter:
    • Cost (optional): The internal cost to the clinic
    • Margin: This will auto-calculate based on the other values entered
    • Retail: The amount charged to patients

Tax and Inventory 

  1. Select:
    • Tax Type 
      • Inherit from Department: Use the taxes that are set up for the department  
      • No Tax: Do not apply tax to this service 
      • GST: Apply GST only 
    • Payable Tax Type 
    • Inventory Tracking (for products):
      • Yes: Track inventory 
      • No: Do not track inventory 

         

 

TELUS eClaims (if applicable)

  1. If submitting through TELUS eClaims, complete:   
    • eClaims Procedure Code: Select from the dropdown 
    • Unit of Measure Quantity: How many minutes (e.g., 60) 
    • Unit of Measure: MIN 
Tip: We recommend using MIN as the unit of measure because TELUS Health eClaims may require this for certain services 

 

 

Online Booking (if applicable)

  1. If patients can book this service online: 
    • Set the Service Duration 
    • Set Book From Portal to Yes 
    • Set Portal Conflicts Allowed: Enter how many appointments are allowed to occur during a single time slot (e.g., this is 1 + the number you select here)
    • Add a Description (optional, visible on the patient portal)

       

 

Assessments (if applicable) 

  1. If this is an assessment: 
    • Check Assessment
    • Chose the appropriate Practitioner Type from the dropdown 

       

 

Schedule Types 

  1. Click +Add to Apply to Schedule Types
  2. Assign the relevant Schedule Types 

     

Result

Your product or service will be available for scheduling, invoicing, and if configured, for online bookings.

 

Avoid Common Issues

  • Ensure a Category is selected, or the item may not appear when booking
  • Assign the correct Schedule Types to make the service bookable
  • Confirm Book From Portal is enabled if offering online booking
  • Verify practitioners are assigned to the same Schedule Types

 

Troubleshooting

Why isn’t my service showing in the online portal?

  • Confirm Book From Portal is set to Yes
  • Ensure the correct Schedule Types are assigned
  • Verify the practitioner is assigned to those Schedule Types

Why can’t I find my service when booking an appointment?

  • Open the product or service and confirm a Category is selected

How should I set up services for practitioners working in multiple locations?

  • Create a Schedule Type that includes the practitioner name and clinic location
  • Assign this Schedule Type to the practitioner
  • Use it when setting up their availability
  • Select this Schedule Type when configuring products and services for the portal
