How to Grant Practitioner Access to Other Practitioners' Charts

  • Updated

By default, practitioners can only view and manage their own patient charts. If a practitioner needs access to another practitioner's charts, appointment dates, or the Copy Last Chart feature, you can grant access from their practitioner profile.

When to Use This

Use this guide when a practitioner needs permission to:

  • View another practitioner's charts
  • View another practitioner's appointment dates within charts
  • Copy another practitioner's previous chart into a new chart.

What You Need

  • Access to Settings
  • Permission to manage practitioner profiles

Contact your clinic administrator if you do not have the required access.

Granting Practitioner Access

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Under Staff, select Practitioners

  3. Open the practitioner's profile

  4. Click the Practitioner Access tab

  1. Under Individual Practitioner Access, click +Add Practitioner

  1. Set up the Practitioner Access:

    • Select the Practitioner(s) whose charts will be shared

    • Choose the permissions to grant:

      • Access Charts to allow the practitioner to view the selected practitioner's charts

      • Access Appointment Dates in Charts to display the selected practitioner's appointment dates

      • Access to Copy Last Chart to allow the practitioner to use Copy Last Chart when creating a new chart

  1. Click Add

  2. Click Save & Exit

Result

The practitioner will now have access to the permissions you assigned, including:

  • Viewing another practitioner's charts
  • Viewing appointment dates within those charts (if enabled)
  • Using Copy Last Chart with another practitioner's previous chart (if enabled)

Things to Know

  • Access is granted individually for each practitioner. If access is needed for multiple practitioners, you'll need to add each one separately.
  • Grant only the permissions the practitioner requires to help protect patient privacy and maintain appropriate access to sensitive information.
