Patient Portal: An Overview

The Patient Portal gives patients easy access to their information, appointments, documents, payments, and more. Patients can use the Navigation Bar to move between the different areas of the Portal from any page.

Here’s a quick overview of what patients may find in each section.

 

 

Dashboard 

The Dashboard gives patients a quick overview of their account and helps them stay on top of their care.

Patients can:

  • See any outstanding invoices
  • Quickly book an appointment
  • View upcoming appointments
  • View and complete intake forms
  • Monitor their waitlist requests

 

Profile

The Profile section lets patients manage their personal information and Portal preferences.

 

 

Patients can update:

  • Login Details
    • Password
  • Contact Details
    • Alternative first and last name
    • Email 
    • Gender 
    • Address
    • Phone number(s)
    • Default Reminder
  • Additional Details
    • Health care number(s) 
    • Occupation
    • Employer 
    • General practitioner details 
    • Emergency contact details 
  • Insurance Details 
    • Add extended health insurance 
  • Subscription Preferences
    • Choose which electronic communications they want to receive:
      • All
      • Appointment reminders 
      • Invoices 
      • Clinic notifications 

The patient's name and date of birth can only be updated by the clinic.

After selecting Save, changes are updated in real time in the patient's Patient Profile.

 

Medical History

The Medical History section gives patients access to information about their health history.

Patients can view:

  • Medical History
  • Complaint History
  • Family History
  • Allergies

 

To enable, go to Settings > Under System & Company Settings, General > Portal > Under General, Add/View Medical Profile > Yes 

 

Transactions

The Transactions section lets patients view their past transactions and invoices.

 

 

Patients can:

  • View outstanding amounts
  • Select View to open or download a PDF of an invoice
  • Use their paid invoice when submitting a claim to their insurance provider


If your clinic has a payment gateway enabled, patients can also pay outstanding invoices through the Portal. They can select Pay, enter their credit card information, and select Submit Payment.

Documents

The Documents section lets patients view documents shared by the clinic and upload files to share with their care team.

 

 

To upload a document, patients can:

  1. Select Upload A Document
  2. Click Drag an Drop Document and choose a file from their computer
  3. Enter a Name 
  4. Optionally, enter a Description
  5. Click Upload Document

     

 

Uploaded documents are available in the patient's Patient Profile, making it easier for practitioners and patients to share information.

 

(HEP) Exercises

The HEP Exercises section lets patients access their Home Exercise Program (HEP) exercises created via your Wibbi or Physitrack integration.  

Patients simply select the program name to view and download their exercise program.

 

 

The program can also be downloaded as a PDF.

 

 

Health Insurance 

Patients can add their insurance information through the Health Insurance section by selecting Add New Insurance.

 

Programs

If your clinic offers programs or subscriptions, patients can view and register for them in the Programs section.

 

 

E-Gift Cards

If your clinic offers E-Gift Cards, patients can purchase them directly through the E-Gift Cards section.

 

 

Book Appointment 

The Book Appointment option takes patients directly to the appointment booking process, where they can select and book an available appointment.

 

 

Things to Know 

  • The tabs and sections available to patients depend on how your clinic has configured the Patient Portal. You may not see every section listed in this article.
  • The Patient Portal can be viewed in English, French, Italian, or Spanish if the Language Selection Menu has been enabled in your system

    Settings > Under System & Company Settings, General > Portal > Under General, Language Selection Menu > Yes 

💡 Tip: Set up Portal Access for a test patient to explore the Patient Portal and see what it looks like from a patient's perspective.
